The Elstermann family is co-owner of the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung (NOZ) and shareholder of Regiocast GmbH & Co. KG and its radio station Radio Bob. The family consists of Hermann Elstermann, his son Jan Dirk Elstermann and Brigitte-Silvie Bitter (née Elstermann).
The Elstermann family also includes Elisabeth Elstermann, who was the founding publisher of the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung (NOZ) together with Leo Victor Fromm. The Elstermann family owns 50 per cent of the shares in Neue Osnabrücker Zeitungs GmbH & Co. KG. They also own 50 per cent of the shares in NOZ Medien Holding GmbH, through which they in turn own shares in more than three dozen other companies. The Elstermann family has links to more than 70 medium-sized and small local newspapers, weekly newspapers, journals, magazines and online portals via the media companies listed below. These are mainly located in Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
The medien holding: nord GmbH, which holds 25 per cent of the shares in Regiocast GmbH & Co. KG, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NOZ Medien Verlags GmbH, which in turn is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NOZ Medien Holding. In addition, the company has investments in various (local) radio stations through its stake in Regiocast GmbH & Co. KG.
