Dirk Ströer is the son of Ströer founder Heinz W. Ströer. He inherited 50% of the company from his father and still holds almost 20% of the advertising and media group today. Ströer is also a publisher of media brands such as T-Online and Watson.de. After graduating in business administration, Dirk Ströer founded City Design GmbH in 1998, a company specialising in the marketing of advertising media in Germany. In 1999, he turned his attention to setting up the Polish branch of the Ströer Group in Warsaw. Later that year, he founded orangemedia.de GmbH and neu.de GmbH in Hamburg, which marked the beginning of Media Ventures GmbH. In the following years, Media Ventures GmbH developed successful online portals such as weg.de, pkw.de and mp3.de. In addition, Dirk Ströer has invested in various companies, including the internet company Hoccer in 2014 and Northern Bitcoin AG in 2018 through his investment company Krypto Ventures GmbH. Ströer is also active in the real estate business through his company Property Ventures, which manages private real estate transactions in Germany and abroad and acts as a real estate holding company. Its first deal was an investment in Timeless, a developer of luxury real estate. A first luxury property was realised in Kitzbühel, Austria. In 2019, Ströer bought the then most expensive house in Cape Town. He is a member of the Cologne carnival association Goldene Jungs.

  • Heinz W. (Heiner) Ströer
    is the father of Dirk Ströer and studied law at the German University in Prague. After 1945, he was forced to leave Czechoslovakia and came to Munich, where he became an employee of the US Army administration. In 1964, he founded a company for outdoor advertising. Together with Udo Müller, he founded Ströer City Marketing in 1990, in which Ströer and Müller each held 50 per cent of the shares. This company developed into Ströer SE & Co. KGaA. Heiner Ströer died in 2004 at the age of 65.
  • Udo Müller
    After studying medicine, Udo Müller founded the advertising agency Lunenburg & Partner in 1985 and entered the outdoor advertising business in 1987. In 1990, he founded Ströer City Marketing GmbH with Heinz W. Ströer. After the company was renamed Ströer Out-of-Home Media AG in 2002, Müller took it public in 2010. Under his leadership, the Ströer Group developed into one of the leading outdoor advertisers and expanded its business to include online marketing and dialogue media.
